Infant Craniosacral Therapy
Massage > Craniosacral Therapy
Birth is a big journey for a baby too. In a few hours, or sometimes a few days, your little one moves through narrow spaces, shifting pressure, and sudden light and sound. Some babies come through easily. Others arrive carrying a little tension from the journey, in the head, neck, jaw, or belly, and it can show up in the first weeks as fussiness, difficulty settling, or trouble feeding.
Infant craniosacral therapy is a quiet, hands-on practice that meets your baby where they are. There’s no force and no manipulation. My touch is light, about the weight of a nickel, following what your baby’s body is already showing me and offering it space to soften and settle.
What this work can support
Parents often come to me when their baby is dealing with:
Tension or discomfort that may have come from the birth itself
Difficulty latching or nursing comfortably
A head that tends to turn to one side (torticollis)
Flattening on one side of the head (plagiocephaly)
Tongue tie, as support alongside the care of your feeding specialist or provider
Digestive discomfort, gas, or reflux-like fussiness
Restless sleep or trouble settling
What a session looks like
Sessions are slow and unhurried, and they follow your baby’s lead. You’re welcome to hold your baby, nurse, or feed during the visit. Babies sleep, wiggle, fuss, and nurse, and all of it is welcome. I begin by listening: to your story, your birth, and what you’ve been noticing. Then I work gently with your baby, on a soft surface or in your arms, paying attention to the head, neck, jaw, spine, and belly.
I also hold space for you. The fourth trimester is tender, and you matter in this too.
Where it happens
Sessions are offered at Rising Earth Healing Arts, or at your home for families within 20 miles of Wappinger Village, and is included as part of the Fourth Trimester Package.
A note on care
Craniosacral therapy supports your baby’s comfort and complements the care of your pediatrician, lactation consultant, tongue tie specialist or other providers. It’s not a replacement for medical care. If your baby has trouble feeding, isn’t gaining weight, or you’re concerned about anything, please check in with your pediatrician, and I’m glad to work alongside them.
F.A.Q.
-
Babies are welcome from the first days to years of life. Many families come in the early postpartum period, though babies of any age can benefit.
-
The touch is very light and non-invasive. Babies sometimes fuss, wiggle or cry which is how they release.
-
It varies. Some families notice a shift after one session, and others come a few times. We’ll check in together as we go.
-
Craniosacral therapy doesn’t release a tongue tie. It can support your baby’s comfort and function around feeding, often alongside a feeding specialist or provider who assesses and treats the tie itself.
-
Yes, please do. Often times, craniosacral therapy is done with baby in the arms of the mother.
-
Yes, my care extends from infants, toddlers and young children.
